I was deeply impressed and inspired by the zeal, enthusiasm of the priests and the people. It is almost a miracle that they could erect a beautiful and very functional church in the atmosphere of Qatar.

It is indeed a joyful experience for me to have visited this miracle of the desert – St. Thomas Syro- Malabar Church, Doha. My sincere congratulations to the priests and lay faithful of this parish on this great achievement. My joy was doubled when I witnessed the great congregation taking active part in the Divine Liturgy and over 50 teachers and 650 students taking great care with regards to the faith formation. So also when I heard about the 40 family units that regularly meet. I cannot forget the experience of celebrating the first Syro-Malabar regular mass in Dukhan. May thanks to all and I will cherish the memory of these days always. All the best for your activities. May God Bless you all.

It is with great pleasure that I extend my most heartfelt felicitations to you on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony of St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Church in Qatar which will be held on December 9, 2005.
The gradual and steady development of the Parish Community in Qatar witnesses to the missionary zeal of the Syro-Malabar migrants and the pastoral thrust of the Church. Indeed, each parish Church is so much more than just a functional building. It is the center of the pastoral sacramental and spiritual life of the Christian community where the members encounter God and where He comes to encounter His faithful people. This living encounter is designed to turn those who believes into "living stones", building blocks of the Kingdom of God on earth.
I am glad to note that His Eminence Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil will attend the function. At this significant ceremony I wish to convey my spiritual union with you.
I invoke God's abundant blessing upon you and to the entire parish community.
Sincerely Yours in Our Lord

The web site of the Syro-Malabar community in Qatar gives me the opportunity to send you my blessing and greeting. With Saint Paul in his letter to the Colossians I remind you of the most important thing in our Christian life: “You must live your whole life according to the Christ you have received – Jesus the Lord; you must be rooted in him and built on him and held firm by the faith you have been taught, and full of thanksgiving” (2:6-7). When we are “rooted in him”, we are given the power to build up communion with all those who share the same faith in Jesus Christ and to serve them.
It is my wish that the web site Syro-malabar church Qatar org. becomes an efficient means to strengthen your faith and to deepen the communion among you and with the whole Catholic parish in Doha , Qatar . I express my gratitude to those who are working on it and thus witnessing to their commitment to the Gospel of our Lord.
May the Lord bless you and protect you!

The Christian Community of the Apostolic period remains the ideal of every Christian Community. Assembling in the temple to pray with one heart and one soul breaking the Eucharistic Bread and sharing everything in common were the characteristics of that community. They must have know one another intimately. With a view to making your community a replica of the Apostolic Church you too went to know one another and for that you are bringing out a directory. It is not an easy task, but your sustained efforts led you to success. I congratulate all those who have worked hard for bringing out the directory.
This is a time God is showering on you special graces. The new Church you are building is one of them. Your community is in my prayer.
